It’s been a while since I sat down to write to my faithful creatives.
I’ve been playing with lots of new creative ideas, and when I do that I sometimes disappear into a creative cave (sometimes for months).
One of the funnest has been my first foray into music creation.
Check out the first album on the Faithful Creative Music label…
I’m working on a series of albums in all sorts of music genres with only one word: Jesus.
This is the first, live today.
Plus last week I celebrated 27 years of marriage to the love of my life!
This morning I awoke with an itch in my heart to pen some words. I’ve learned that itches in the heart are not to be ignored.
The word that was rumbling has to do with measures of success, and how they get simpler the older I become.
Instead of worldly accolades, I hear Jesus warning that you can fill your barns and lose your soul.
And as for spiritual badges of honour, I’m reminded of Paul’s master chapter in Corinthians. He lists the medals of spirituality one by one and then states that they are empty of value apart from love.
The object and primary purpose of the Word is singular and simple:
“The object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith.” (1 Timothy 1:5 AMP)
The things that make for a rich and significant life are often the most ordinary.
Recognising the magnificence of God’s hand in the unimpressive beauty of the everyday is an art that leaves you awestruck at God’s overwhelming abundance and goodness.
Let your measures be ones that generously affirm your place on the planet.
See the wonder right in front of your face.
Don’t chase things that promise big but deliver little.
Don’t be duped by the baubles of success dangled on the billboards.
You are enough, plus nothing.
keep creating,
