You are creative!

There, I’ve said it.

You may disagree or you may not – but the truth remains. 

If you are living and breathing today there is a deep treasure inside you that deserves to be explored and expressed.

Our multi-faceted, colourful, unhindered humanity is a doorway for divinity – the overflow of our Father’s rich heart into the world around us.

After all, He is the Creator!

And you are made in His image. A unique expression of His heart endued with uncommon giftings.

For years I have had the desire in my heart to champion the callings of the vast community of creative Christians residing on our planet.

Sometimes you just have to exercise patience until a thought is fully formed. A premature baby gasps for life, but a full formed infant, when its ready to be unleashed on a waiting world, hollers its arrival.

That’s exactly how I feel about this message. It is hollering inside me – refusing to stay inside a moment longer.

I believe with all my heart that’s God’s people – the Jesus loving following radicals of our Father in Heaven – are called to a new renaissance of creative expression in every sector of society.

I believe that He is raising up a new generation of revolutionary thinkers who have tapped the mind of Christ and opened the floodgates of their imagination, and so become conduits for Heaven’s agenda right her on earth.

Welcome to the very first episode of the David Lee Martin Show, I am David Lee Martin, and I’m looking really in the show. This is just an introductory episode just to say hi, to introduce myself and to talk a little bit about what the show aims to become. My wife, Lorna and I were a church planters and pastors for over 20 years, planting largely and pastoring in the UK and travelling around in kind of various creative and missionary ways throughout Europe, America, Africa, a number of other places.

But, you know, by God’s by God’s direction and by kind of various turns of events, I’ve ended up right here in the online space helping other Christians, helping Christian artists, authors, entrepreneurs to recognise their value, No. One, to really discover their awesome, and then to crystallise that value into products, into publications, into platforms where they can then share their message with the world and add through through that process. It’s led me here to want to kind of just add another avenue for people to engage with this wonderful message that Jesus is the creative source, that Jesus is the one who fills our heart, fills our life with his Holy Spirit so it can overflow and pour out to touch the people.

You know, in the scriptures we find Jesus speaking about the Holy Ghost, like as a river that bubbles up within us or as many rivers that come up and flow from the heart. And the scriptures say there in the book of John that this Spake of the Spirit, the Holy Spirit dwells in you and you have been made in the image of God. You know, it’s no it’s no accident that in the scriptures, our very first introduction to the God that we serve is right there in bang.

In the very first verse of Genesis. You know, he wastes no time letting us know what his what his personality is, what his character is and what he does in the beginning. God. So he introduces himself, created in the beginning, God created. He is a maker. He is a creator. And you were made to be a maker, you know, not long after those those introductory verses when God puts his hand out to shake your hand.

And, you know, when we go to a party, it’s certainly us guys anyways, I don’t know about. But you ladies. But there there’s a couple of questions that we always ask. What’s your name and what you know, Will will say her name, and then that’s swiftly followed by the question, Will, what do you do? And here we find God walking into the room, OK? And we put our hand out. We clock him across the room, we walk across and we say, hey, you look pretty awesome in that kind of suit of light.

What’s your name? And he tells us, he says, well, my name is God. And then in response to our very next question, what do you do? He says, well, I create I make things I bring things into existence. That same chapter, verse 26, tells us in Genesis one, verse 26, it tells us that God made mankind in his own image, just like himself, that DNA, that creative DNA dwells in you, dwells in your heart, your nature, like this super natural, creative, abundant, vibrant nature of God dwells in you.

The Holy Spirit has moved in and taken up residence. There’s two of you living in that body, and he has never changed his ways. He’s never changed from that very first introduction in the book of Genesis right through to this very moment. As you listen to these words, the Holy Spirit, the Father, the Son, they all carry that same incredible abundant. Nature of of creation, of creativity, and that same nature dwells in you, you know, the interesting thing is there in the Book of Genesis, we go through it and we see God speaking things into existence and at every junction, he says, and it was good and it was good and it was good and it was good and it was good.

And then he concludes and it was very good. And then he takes a day, takes an opportunity to step back from the creative process and just simply revel in what he has made. And I believe it’s the same for us. I believe that there is a if we’re not making, if we’re not creating, if we’re not responding to and acting on that nature of God that dwells within us, that really is what often leads to this sense of frustration and satisfaction that so often resides in people’s hearts.

And so this show is really about encouraging you to step out, to just take a hold of the the the grace and the nature and the power of God that resides within you and then step out and begin to make things. And I’m a writer. That’s really my my main. Avenue of expression, but it really doesn’t matter what your what your avenue of expression is, the the Holy Ghost made it clear that there are many rivers that flow from the heart of humanity, that bring his grace and bring his power and his presence to those around them.

So whether you’re a musician, whether you’re an author, whether whether you’re a cook, it really there are so many expressions of God’s heart. And I just want to make it clear that those expressions really do burst far beyond the walls of just a church meeting. You are the church. You don’t go to church. You are the church. Now, you may go to a building. You may not, especially at the moment, with some of the things that are happening in the world.

But, hey, you are made to be a maker. And I want to encourage you every day, every day during the week. I want to give you the opportunity to tune in to and just receive some encouragement for your spirit, a little strength and a little a few kind of Holy Ghost vitamins or vitamins to feed that desire to come and bring a message to come and change the world, to really make a difference. I believe that you’re called to it.

I believe you’ve got something worthy, something precious, something of worth to share with the world. And I want to do everything that I can in this small way to encourage that, to champion that and to cheer you on. So, yeah, thanks for listening and I look forward to engaging in the coming days.
