Baptism in the glorious Holy Ghost is a promise given to you, to your children and the their children after them, as many as God shall call. If He has not ceased calling, the promise remains active!
When we speak about the subject to prayer, we really are talking about entering into an entirely different realm and nothing speaks of that kind of supernatural realm. I think more than just the manifestation of speaking in tongues. Now, I know there’s some controversy over this in theological circles, but there’s certainly no controversy over it in the Bible. You know, the word of God is really, really clear about the subject of baptism in the Holy Spirit, who it’s for, when it’s for and what some of the what some of the results of a baptism in the Holy Spirit might be.
Now, the scriptures say that Jesus stood up at a particular feast and shouted above all of the noise and the action that was taking place. And he said, and this is recorded in John chapter 7:37-38. If any man first let him come to me and drink, he that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly, shall flow rivers of living water. Speaking of kind of this supernatural live gushing forth from the deep seat of our soul, the innermost cave of our being, this womb of our spirit, something that is untouched and not made of human hands is going to flow from within us.
And that scripture continues in verse thirty nine saying this, he spoke of the spirit which they that believe on him should receive. And I guess that just begs the question, do you believe now if your answer is yes and you believe in Jesus, the next question that swiftly follows is very similar to one that the apostle Paul asked a thirsty group of Ephesian believers, and they were asked this question, Have you received a Holy Ghost since you believed Act 19 verse to, you know, here really is the wellspring of prayer, the indwelling God, infusing the expressions of our hard with his own faith, his own fire.
It’s like a partnership, a fusing of his spirit and our spirit in inlike full expression. And that full expression is most clearly defined in the prayer closet. You know, despite all despite all of the arguments that people may have about this, you know, and and people who might say, oh, well, all of that passed away with the apostles or whatever other kind of theological gymnastics they want to kind of engage in. The truth is that this promise, this promise of the end failing of the Holy Spirit remains for everyone who believes, you know, elsewhere in the Book of Acts 2:38 and 39, we read this.
You shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost for the promises to you, to your children, to all who are a far off, even as many as our Lord God shall call it. I, for one, was a far off, and I heard the call. Praise God. And so did you. You know, you qualify for the in of the Holy Ghost. And if you’ve never spoken in tongues, today is your day. Close the door on any past.
Disappointments lay to rest. Any reasons why not and why it won’t happen and why it didn’t happen or whatever else is kind of preventing you coming with simple, childlike faith. I mean, just hear this word, OK, from the Book of Luke. Jesus spoke these words and we can bring them to our father in prayer. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will you give him a stone? Or if he ask for a fish, will he for a fish, give him a serpent?
If he ask for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then being evil relative to the holiness and the greatness and the goodness and the generosity of God, if you then know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him simply pray God. I am asking you today. The promise is to all who believe, and that is me. I demand with all humility that you fulfil your promise in me and baptise me with the Holy Spirit.
I’ve seen this work on many, so many, many occasions. And, you know, we we don’t need to kind of have like outlandish manifestations or wild kind of the heavens open up. The angels come down the house shakes. All of those things may well happen, but they don’t have to. You know, we can really come in just simple faith on the back of a prayer like that and without hesitation or second guessing, open our mouth and just by faith, speak the first sounds that bubble up from inside, from our inner man.
Just open your mouth and begin to speak, you know, and then the next sound that comes up, the next syllables that come up and the next prime the pump with your will and your faith engaged and in agreement, knowing that God is faithful to his word. You know, until that flow bubbles up from your inner man and you find that you are speaking with a fluency in languages that you’ve never learnt or never heard, you know, there’s a there’s a receiving by faith that needs to take place, a childlike acceptance of the supernatural, a warm embrace of this word and this promise that just denies and discounts what anyone else may say other than as Saviour himself.
And as as we’ve already looked, even just a few scriptures and there are many more. It’s clear that this promise is for each one of us, baptism in the spirit with manifestation and proof of praying in tongues is available to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ and has accepted him as the Lord and Saviour. Mark 16:17 clearly says these signs shall follow them that believe in my name. They shall speak with new tongues and tongues, just opens up dimensions and prayer that just blow the lid off the the prayer closet.
You know, receiving the baptism is not something we need to strain for or seek to earn. It’s given to all who believe. And although this may sound simplistic, you know, adding complexity may well be the reason that many people fail to receive as they expect to just shed the old embrace this most beautiful promise and with childlike simplicity, receive the promise in your heart, open your mouth and speak with tongues today. Well, thanks for listening. Hopefully.
