When the Holy Ghost wrote the Bible, He must have used wet ink. His fingerprints are on every page! Even the boring bits He hides treasures…

The scriptures are the most amazing thing on this planet. There’s nothing can compare with the wonder that is the Bible. There’s a reason that it’s it’s the world’s bestseller. But even beyond just the kind of surface stories from which we can learn and through which we can discover the saviour of the world, there are things hidden in there that really do reveal the fingerprints of God. I mean, I like to say that when the Holy Ghost wrote the Bible, he must have used wet ink because his fingerprints are on every page.

And it’s a supernatural fingerprint. It’s the fingerprint of a vast, eternal mind. Even in the boring bits or what one might consider the boring bits like, say, for example, the lists of names. I don’t know anyone who has lists of names in their promise box scriptures that they pull out and confess every day. But even in those places that it’s very easy for us to skip over, the Holy Spirit is powerfully speaking to us and revealing truth.

Take, for example, this list of begaps. Now it’s nestled inconspicuously in the fifth chapter of Genesis. Okay, so this is the first book of the Bible. We’re just a few chapters in Moses is inspired by the Holy Spirit to write down a family tree. So it tells the unfolding story from Adam through to Noah.

But hidden in these names, hidden in this family history is a bigger story that’s not immediately apparent to the eye. This is like a hidden gem. In this chapter of the Holy book, we find this list of ten names. Okay. And so let’s take a look and go through Genesis chapter five.

First we find Adam is mentioned. Adama means man, then his son Seth, which means appointed. And then Enosh. Seth’s son. Enosh means mortal, frail or miserable from the root and Nash.

It means to be incurable. It’s used to describe wounds, grief, woes, sickness, or even wickedness. Enosh had a son. It’s funny, isn’t it? Some of the names these people give their kids.

But even the naming of these children, however audit may sound, was inspired by the Holy Spirit. As you will see as we dig behind the story behind the story, Enosh had a son named Canaan. Now Canaan. Again, it’s really another kind of happy go lucky name. This one, it means sorrow, dirge or Elegy.

Then Canaan had a son named Mahalalel. Now I’d rather be Mahalalel than Canaan or Enosh. Mahalalel means blessed or praise. Now you’ve got L there, which is the name for God. So essentially it would be transliterated or translated as the blessed God Mahalalel and had a son named Yered or Jared.

And this is from the verb Yerad. And forgive me. I am no Greek scholar. Sorry, no Hebrew scholar. So if I’m mispronouncing these things, please just bear with me.

But that name Yered means shall come down. Yarad then had quite an incredible son. A remarkable man named Enoch. Now Enoch means commencement or teaching. Enoch was actually a Prophet who amazingly prophesied the second coming of Christ.

We are just a few generations in here, and we find this this guy, Enoch, who walks so closely with God that God reveals to him not just the first coming of Christ, but the second part of his prophecy is recorded in the book of Jude, verses 14 and 15. He then has a son named you may have heard of mathewsela was like the oldest guy ever recorded in the Bible, and he named his son. And the prophetic name actually means Methuselah, means his death shall bring or when he dies, it shall come.

And it was directly after the death of Methuselah. As I mentioned, he’s notably the oldest recorded man in the Bible.

At 969 years, the flood of Noah occurred when he dies, it shall come, or his death shall bring and say, Here we have God keeping this poor guy alive for 969 years. Speaking of the long suffering of God, two Peter 39 alludes to this. And then Ms. Euzella, as we’ve seen it’s from Murph, the root that means death and shellac, which means to bring or to send forth. Essentially, Mathewsla means his death shall bring a kid called Lamech.

And the root is still evident today in our English word lament or lamentation. It means despairing again. Like these happy names that they gave their kids, Mafusala gives birth to Lamech. Lamech gives birth to Noah. Now we’ve all heard of Noah, which is derived from the Hebrew word Nakam, which means to bring relief or comfort, comfort or rest.

Now we’re taken together these stories, which are written by the Holy Spirit through the generations unbeknownst to the men who were naming their children. But here’s how the story reads. When we look at the meaning of these ten names, man is appointed mortal sorrow, but the blessed God shall come down. Teaching his death shall bring the despairing, comfort and rest. Dear friends, the gospel is nestled here right in the fifth chapter of Genesis.

The Bible is full of these kind of wonderful secret Santa places where we get to open up the surprises that the Holy Spirit has hidden inside of them. He gives the despairing rest. History really is his story and it’s hidden in the story of his people. No one is lost in the list. Your name, my dear brother or sister, is known and significant to the Saviour.

It transforms his mind, changes his character, moves him on from Grace to Grace, makes him an inheritor of the very nature of God.

James four, verse eight, draw near to God and he will draw near to you.

Hallelujah, Jesus first. Everything else follows day 14 of Adventure adventurers. We’ve got some adventurers out there out there putting yourself into the the world into the fray, letting your genius be known, letting your creativity flourish. Today I want to talk about again. The great exchange that took place at the cross and the scripture that I’m pulling from is found in two Timothy one verse seven. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but power, love and sound mind. Here we are, man. We have been given a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind instead of fear.

What an exchange now the world that we live in, especially right now and is trading in fear and people are buying it up wholesale. This is so costly on so many levels, whereas God, on the other hand, is giving his stocks away for free to anyone who believes in power, love, sound, mind, joy, peace. You name it if it’s got good stamped on it. In the real sense of the word, God is laying it on the table for us to take a hold of. Now these are just a few of the many rich deposits that he wants to add to your account.

It’s really interesting to note as well here that the Scriptures teach that fear is a spirit. It’s a spirit that grips the heart of man when faith is not present. Think of it like a vacuum. Think of your inner man much like a vacuum. There are areas of our life that if we choose not to fill them. Yeah, that vacuum will crave to be occupied and left alone. It’s going to suck in whatever is in the prevailing atmosphere in which a person kind of dwells where they inhabit.

So we’ve got to be careful what we charge the atmosphere of our life with. This is why Jesus again, speaking of spirits, said, when a demon is cast out of someone, it goes out into wilderness places looking for somewhere to live, looking for somewhere or someone else to inhabit. And then later comes back, finds the house that it was presently or the body that it was previously in dwelling, cleaned and empty and jumps back in. Only this time he invites seven of his awful mates to join him.

A vacuum will crave occupation. And so we have to be really careful to continually fill our mind, our heart, our spirit with the right things. And following the four, all of humanity really came under the influence of this spirit. One of the first things that we see takes place in the Garden of Eden, following Adam and Eve’s rebellion is that they are driven to hide and they say we were afraid they were fearful. But Jesus exposed the real perpetrator behind this. In and through the cross, stripped him clean of his disguise.

Jesus rose victorious, were told, and paraded his enemies through the heavens, making an open show of them and really at the head of this Motley train of adversaries is fear and death. But even Satan’s biggest guns are powerless against God’s Grace. The Scriptures say in Hebrews two verse 15 that Jesus came to deliver them who through fear of death, were all their lifetimes subject to bondage. Jesus sets people free. He exchanges freedom for the fear that once held our heart. And life. And death has no sting for the children of the King.

Jesus has so fully resolved the tragic situation that humanity found itself in when he became what the Bible terms the second Adam completely spotless pure, a perfect representative. And where the first Adam failed, Jesus conquered and in Him, we conquered too. This love, this power, this sound and fixed mind of Christ pushes fear from our lives. And even death has no dividend. He is defeated and Jesus is victorious. I just want to pray, Father. I just thank you today in the name of Jesus for the word of God that sets us free.

Thank you that you are indeed a deliverer that you’ve given us a spirit, not a fear, but power, love and a sound mind. You have filled us with yourself and Lord. We can choose to walk in your ways, Lord, if there are any areas of our heart that remain a vacuum that we have not intentionally filled with your truth, I pray God that you would lead us Holy Spirit. Lead and guide us into the places where we would be filled with your spirit, filled with your presence, filled with a knowledge of your ways, filled with your word in Jesus name.

In Christ, we step into liberty. Sickness and disease have no place in the life of a believer. In the same way we resist sin and temptation, we resist symptoms that speak of the fall. The old world was subjected to futility and fear. The new creation steps into a new Eden.

So we’ve been looking at the great exchange in this season, where so many exchange gifts. The exchange that took place on the cross of Jesus is the greatest exchange that ever took place. The thing is, Jesus exchanged with us wonderful gifts. And what we gave him was really something that no one else would ever want. He took upon himself everything that kept us from stepping in to the Holy presence of God.

He took from us everything that prevented us calling God Father. And in that exchange, we became the righteousness of God. One of the things that is so clear in the Scriptures is that not only was sin taken care of on the cross, not only was sin, and the power of sin eradicated through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, so was sickness. 1 Peter 2:24, who his own self bear our sins in his own body, on the tree that we being dead to sins should live unto righteousness by whose stripes you were healed.

Now the Scripture talks about the first Adam and the second Adam. The first Adam, the federal head of humanity, chose to follow his own way. And we bear the consequences of that rebellion. The second Adam, the second head of humanity, the second one who came perfect, Unsullied sinless in every respect. Jesus Christ one back.

All that was lost. Joy, health, strength. This was all one back on our behalf. Sin, sickness, poverty, confusion, disease. All were nailed to the same stake that dealt with our sins.

All was nailed as sickness, disease, confusion, poverty. He dealt with it all. He became poor, that we might be made rich. And that is in every respect in our spirit, in our soul, in our body. Here in the natural world.

Oh, Jesus, we’re so thankful to you. You are magnificent. It’s very easy for us to be afraid to challenge these things for fear that we might offend someone some people may hear. And honestly, we all struggle at times with sin. And yet sin is taken care of.

We all struggle at times with symptoms of sickness in our bodies. None of this. When we talk the truth. When we bring the word to the table, it’s not that we are pointing fingers. It’s not for any condemnatory cause.

That is not the nature of our Father. He is not an accuser in the same way as Satan. Satan may use the word of God that way. But we do not. And certainly never once, ever in all of eternity.

As our father used it in that manner. He uses it to convict. He uses it to convince that our hearts would be fully convinced of the truth. As it says of Abraham. He was so convinced of the promise that he believed God regardless of contrary circumstances and contrary proof.

And we can do the same thing, even in the face of contrary symptoms or contrary circumstances. Being fearful to call out a lie and to fanfare the truth gives free rein to the ravages of Satan, to stand unchallenged. Instead, in the name of Jesus, we declare the free reign of God. Regardless of common wisdom. We count the blood of Jesus as something uncommon and we expect and welcome uncommon results.

Scriptures say 1000 may fall at our side and 10,000 at our right hand. But it will not come near us. Psalm 91 if there was ever a time where we need to come again, back to the word of God and the truth that is found there in now is that time. Today I am celebrating an exchange that took place.
