I stared with wide eyes watching Cirque De Soleil perform their wonders.
The juggling clown taught me a valuable lesson.
His comical performance demanded that he spin plates on standing sticks, adding more and more until he was frantically running back and forth to keep them balanced.
A mirror of how I used to approach my creative life and business.
Opportunities shouted their high promises from rolling feeds, webinars, emails and sales pages. I grabbed each one with eager hands and started yet another plate spinning.
Maybe this is the one for me?
But in the end, I felt just like that clown flailing across the stage to keep my plates turning.
Until Jesus spoke to me.
In prayer one chilly Spring morning, the Holy Ghost whispered to my heart.
“David, David, you are cumbered and troubled with many things, but only one (or but a few things) are needful.”
It was my Martha moment.
“So what’s my one (or but a few) things?” I asked.
“Writing,” He said.
That one conversation changed my perspective and trajectory in life in a profound way.
Keep your ear and heart open for His direction. It won’t be a hundred things He says, or even ten.
There will be one or just a few deeply resonant directions He drops in your heart.
For me, it is writing.
For you, it may be something else entirely.
But rest assured, when that word lands and you embrace it, a peaceful (but challenging) path will open before you.
You have tremendous value to share.
My prayer today is that your heart will be flooded with fresh courage to embrace the directions of your Captain and make this the year you step out with newfound confidence as you pursue your calling!
