I have a gift for you today.

Permission.

To exercise your voice and make a difference.

To pursue the dream and desire you have in your heart.

To share it with the world.

Don’t wait for some mythical gatekeeper to fling the doors open. Play to an audience of One if you have to. Be faithful, be consistent, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Hidden here is a liberating principle. Papa sees what others don’t.

“Let thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.” (Matthew 6:4)

The creative life requires a calm confidence—acceptance that formation is accomplished in obscurity. Don’t let your hands be tied by lack. Lack of an audience. Lack of knowledge. Lack of confidence. Lack of experience. All of these will come with practice.

It may take many years of development to sharpen the edge of your chosen craft and penetrate the noise. Stop waiting for permission to begin.

Start today and do one thing that inches you toward your dream.

Don’t overthink the process.

There’s not a ‘right’ way to practice. And that is all we are doing most of the time. Practicing.

Choose to practice in public long enough to get noticed. There’s a body of work residing in your heart with intrinsic value. Don’t devalue that just because you’ve not yet built an audience.

The call to create has touched your soul and something within you has responded to that call.

It will take time. It won’t be easy. But it will be well.

And as you lean into that creative call resonance will build within your spirit. A deep that calls to the deep in others and gleefully permits others to step out too.

Crack your creative cocoon and stretch your colourful wings. Your Father is listening.

In time others will hear too.
