Some verses in the Scriptures drop into your spirit and take root.
You know the ones.
The Holy Ghost lifts them from the page and plants them firmly in your heart.
Roots down, fruits up, changing the way you see and live.
For me, one of those verses is nested in the book of Ezekiel.
“…I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.”
(Ezekiel 36:36–37 KJV)
There’s so much I could bring out from this verse but for now, here’s a truth to take home.
“I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it.”
He is sovereign. If He says it He will do it. Period.
That’s God’s part.
But the verse doesn’t stop there.
He continues,
“I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them”
That’s your part.
Here’s a definition of prayer in a nutshell.
Ask for the things God has already given!
The Word of God is always the basis for effective prayer.
His written Word.
His word spoken to your spirit.
Listen first. Ask after.
What has He spoken to you?
And when was the last time you inquired of Him about it?
Praying grace be yours,
David
