It took me a long time to find it. Truth be told, I didn’t even know it was lost for many years.
And then I found the way…
How can you discover something that is hidden and never given the opportunity to breathe and believe? Here’s the secret to finding your voice – you never lost it in the first place. The multitude of other voices vying for your attention simply drowned it.
Your song will come as you begin to sing. And the more you sing the clearer the tune will be.
The words will begin to work their wonder as you write.
The picture will open unseen worlds as you paint.
As you…
Callings and clarity grow when you go!
Go into all the world.
This has never been more possible than it is today. You can go to the uttermost parts of the earth from your keyboard or your smartphone. No barrier stands before you. No gatekeeper bars your way.
And in going we get better.
It’s in the practice that we perceive who we are, and discover what resonates with the people we are called to serve. The resonance of your message is a magnet – it will attract and it will repel.
Be comfortable to exclude. In trying to reach everyone, you’ll reach no one. But when your voice is honed, your heart is opened, and your message is clear, the right people, those the Lord has chosen as your audience, will find you. They will hear your voice through the noise.
A Surprising Realisation
And finding your voice also comes with the surprising realisation that ultimately it is not your own. Your voice was given not to echo in your own ears, it was made to minister to the ears of an audience. To become ever more whetted to seek and find the hearts of your hearers.
“And these words which I am commanding you this day shall be [first] in your [own] minds and hearts; [then] You shall whet and sharpen them so as to make them penetrate…”
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 AMPLIFIED
Your heart to theirs.
The clearer you become about who you want to reach, the more crystal the path to find them appears. The more defined the actions you need to take become.
It’s impossible to reach EVERYONE. But you can reach SOMEONE.
My question today is, who is that someone?
Taking time to clarify your message and the market you are seeking to reach is never wasted.
There is a soul-deep recognition that takes place when you hone your message to market. Not compromising or dulling your truth, but learning to communicate in ways that others understand. A strange anointed alchemy that takes invisible truths and transforms them into marvellous vehicles to deliver value to your tribe.
In no small way your art, words, and work, begin to change the world.
