My eldest son Luke listens to videos at 2X speed. It’s like quaffing content by the chipmunks.
Some people may disagree, and I get the logic, but I’m a 1X guy.
I believe that life’s too short to be in a hurry.
And for learning, it’s not quantity that counts.
Two things are important:
- The quality of the original input
- Your ability to absorb and apply what you learn
One tiny key truly grasped can open a thousand doors. If it’s rushed over, you might miss the very thing that will bust the hinges open for your next breakthrough.
The Voice Within The Voices
This undergirds my approach to growth – I’m always listening for the Voice within a voice.
Whatever I’m listening to or reading, I have one ear open to the author and the other for the still, small Voice of my Guide. He’s the one who confirms, conducts, and clarifies what is essential.
I like this artisan coffee shop verse…
He☕brews 1:1:
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son” (Hebrews 1:1–2 KJV)
Many voices are speaking, some saying wonderful things, but it’s the Son we need to hear. Not just in ‘spiritual’ things but in everything.
In these last days, He is speaking.
Whatever you are doing, let Him lead. Don’t be in a rush or you might miss the Voice within the voices.
Selah.
