Relationship with God is the very centre of all that we are do. Satisfaction at the deepest and most profound level is found in fellowship with Him.
Speaking with Him this morning I asked, “How do I design my day?”
So often I live by hamster-wheel default just rolling with whatever demands my attention.
His answer was simple.
“Remove distractions”.
Understanding your value and worth in a tangible, measurable way means placing intense value on your time. That does not mean gluing a monetary amount to every minute either.
Time is not just about production, it is about presence.
I can say that I spend time with my beautiful wife, or time with my family, when really I have spent no time with them at all. My body was in the room for sure, but my heart and mind were elsewhere.
Presence is about priority.
We give attention and fix our soul to those things we feel are important. Much of what we press for on a daily basis can so easily be the passing and ultimately pointless whims of this world.
I find the biggest distraction to be the things I am not doing in a given moment. They encroach on my presence and my peace, pulling me away and splintering my ability to be absolutely present in whatever task I’m engaged in.
It’s easy to always have that nagging thought that you should be doing something other than your present activity. That somehow you are missing out, or missing the point.
Jesus had this one thoroughly beaten.
He explained:
“Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.” (John 5:19–20 NKJV)
Jesus was never confused about His priorities. He was never sticker with fear of missing out. He never chased a dream that belonged to someone else. Each day was lived in divine partnership, by design.
The Father’s perfect will discussed, and then displayed. Prayer came birth to the production of the day.
What design do I want to live by?
I want to live rooted and grounded in a love that transcends all worldly measure.
I want to be a man marked by Heaven’s scent, moved by Heaven’s heart.
No to busy. His burden is light.
No to fretfulness. His presence frees me from anxious attempts to become what I cannot.
Yes to being here with Him right now as I write.
Yes to loving people from a place uncoupled from envy or ambition.
My life belongs to you, Father. Open my eyes to today’s fruitful pathway.
Living by design. I found very thought provoking.
David. Blends in with what I am doing with the Whole Person Approach.
Thank you.
