I keenly follow my bottom line numbers.
As an author and publisher, my #1 tool for following my numbers is Publisher Champ.
Needless to say, there’s a satisfaction whenever I see those numbers grow.
But money, despite the world’s insistence that it is the be-all-and-end-all, is just one measure of worth.
And not the most important or precious.
Wisdom pays far better and enduring rewards.
“Receive my instruction in preference to [striving for] silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, for skillful and godly Wisdom is better than rubies or pearls, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” (Proverbs 8:10–11 AMP)
I work for silver and gold.
Pour time and attention into accumulation.
Carefully apply myself to the art and science of godly business.
Do I do the same in pursuit of wisdom?
At the end of each month, do I assess my genuine progress by my bottom line increase in wisdom and knowledge of God?
Not “How many dollars in my bank?” but “how much love in my heart?”
Not “How many pounds and pence?” instead “How much peace and tranquility of spirit?”
Rather than “What did I make this quarter?” asking “What fresh words have I harvested from the Father’s heart this season?”
And the beauty and generosity of our God?
He’s a both/and God not an either/or.
He knows the things you have need of, and seeking first His Kingdom is the best business plan you’ll ever follow.
“Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.” (Proverbs 8:20–21 KJV)
