“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” (1 Peter 5:10 KJV)
I spent a great deal of my life chasing all sorts of things.
Seeking to please various people.
Looking for accolades and affirmation.
Chasing my own tail trying to be someone, when all the while I was someone already. The only person I’ll ever be.
Me.
Lil’ ole warts and all, strengths and weaknesses, good days, bad days, flawed but full of Jesus, me.
So here’s the word for the day…
“Settled”
What a beautiful word that is.
Comfortable in your own skin.
Unimpressed by but wholly aware of your own talents, and never lamenting the ones you lack.
Knowing you play a small part in a bigger Kingdom. Not having to be something or someone you are not.
Leaning into the person you are and showing up the best way you know how.
Encouraging others to do the same.
Relationship with God settles you. Sets you apart from the hamster wheel existence many choose to live. His embrace becomes comfortable, and the only affirmation you need is a word from Papa.
Settled living results from settled praying.
Time spent in God’s presence is never wasted. Don’t be in a rush. The thing you seek is found in Him, and sometimes you need to stay there long enough for the jumble on the inside to subside, and for your soul to settle down and allow itself to be loved.
Selah.
