I’m not going to lie, making money online is not as easy as many would have you believe. But it is also not nearly as hard as you may think either.
It will take patience and testing to achieve the results you might be seeking, but don’t be discouraged, it is possible (more than that; it is probable, maybe even inevitable), if you stay the course and passionately commit to the process.
5 Mistakes I See People Making When Creating Online ProductsThere are essentially two components that are going to help you realise your vision. With a clear understanding of these two essentials, the many other working parts become immensely more manageable.
How?
The first is one that most of us are very familiar with: HOW?
We have an idea, it may be big or small, and ask ourselves, “How can I achieve that?”
For many this is where their journey ends, before it even begins!
They disqualify themselves because they don’t know how.
Others take the bull by the horns and set themselves to learn. This is a noble cause and worth investing time and money, they surmise, and understand that end products and ongoing results will be front loaded with something scary but exciting – its called “work”.
Put in the work, and you’ll reap the rewards.
There’s a caveat I want to add to the HOW? question, however. Sometimes the investment of TIME required to answer the “how” yourself is a false economy, or plain impossible.
An example from my own digital journey was an idea I had for a WordPress plugin. I have zero idea how to program or code, and quite frankly have neither the aptitude, time, or inclination, to discover how. The question that then follows hard on an impossible how is “who?”
Who?
I don’t know how, so WHO does, and how can I find and hire them?
The same formula allowed me to build a seven-figure fiction publishing business without writing one fiction book myself.
The how question becomes, “how do I find the who?”
It may even be that the question you need to ask is, “Who can introduce me to the who who can help me fulfil my how?”
If you follow this pathway you’ll always be able to find a way when others resign their genius and abandon ideas that are begging to be realized.
So that’s the second essential: WHO?
If you master the art and science of balancing HOW and WHO, you will always have a pathway forward.
Need to create a website? Don’t know how, ask “who?”, and have them make it for you.
Need a lead magnet PDF report designed and beautified for delivery to potential clients or subscribers? Have no graphic design experience or software to make it happen? Who can I hire to do that work for me?
Idea for a book but no wordsmith skills and haven’t even read a book since sixth grade? Who can make my idea come alive?
Some how/who questions can be answered with software or online services. Others will require the human touch.
But let me assure you, there is always a way!
Don’t discount your ideas or your abilities.
You have everything it takes to make ideas a reality. Some will require an investment of time, others an investment of money, and many will be a mix of both.
My recommendation is that you value your time above all else, but also recognize the value of understanding a process so you can better manage your “who’s” when you engage their services.
It is sometimes worth educating yourself to a reasonable degree in the how, but always with the ‘who’ in view, knowing your end game is delegation, not perspiration.
At other times the skill you’ll exercise is talent management, not talent acquisition (and by that, I mean fighting to acquire the skills yourself before you reach out for help) – namely the ability to find your who and give them the creative license they need to realize your ideas on your behalf without you needing to acquire or even understand the skill at all.
Either way, most quandaries and roadblocks can be solved by either one of these power twins, the how or the who.
