Productivity is way overrated if it is not attended with peace. The push to run yourself ragged doing 65 things concurrently without breaking a sweat is kind of crazy don’t you think?
The pace of peace is walking in tandem with the Father. The cool of the day stroll in the security that He has everything under control.
A rest remains for those who will claim it, the Bible tells us.
Busy, busy, busy, does not give you bragging rights.
“And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply” (Genesis 1:22 KJV)
Consider this first blessing. The power of it cannot be overemphasised.
God’s first endowment of power to prosper was a blessing.
It was granted with full approval and bestowal of authority.
You have been blessed not to be “busy” but to be “fruitful”.
When was the last time you saw an apple tree straining to push an apple from its branches?
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (John 15:4–5 KJV)
And, despite the world’s emphasis on greenbacks and financial hacks, prosperity is far more than cash in the bank.
I always remind myself that whilst I may be trying to build my business, God is building me.
His ‘business’ is people. His masterly hand crafts character, not just cash.
This relationship is the root of true riches, and the fruit will be an abundance for every good work.
God delights in the prosperity of His servants, and is overjoyed when those servants realise they are sons. Sons and daughters made to enjoy His blessing.
I encourage you to hit the pause button today, and several times each day, to recalibrate your purpose and bring your heart back to peace.
There is no rush because you are the product that will ultimately determine your impact. God is not bish-bash-bosh, He carefully crafts only the best and most intricate works. Each one a unique, never-to-be-repeated masterpiece of grace.
The bigger, fuller, and more complete you yourself become, the wider your branches will reach.
Yes, we want to grow. Sure, we yearn to earn. Absolutely, we’re eager for impact.
All of this will spring (super)naturally from your inner man, where the God of Increase is powerfully at work.
Jesus first, everything else follows.
