I want to talk today about Songs of Deliverance, you know, I just find the interweaving of praise and prayer just such a marvellous thing. In the hidden place of prayer, a symphony is already playing, harmonising with the choirs of heaven. And we’ve been invited to join the song Psalm 32 by seven says, you are my hiding place. You shall preserve me from trouble. You shall compass me about with songs of Deliverance. You know, the language of prayer doesn’t reside in the same realm as time.

We thank God for answers before we even embark on the asking. We call things that are not yet as though they are. They were our present possession. We watch for the solutions before the first supplication spills from our lips. And Thanksgiving is so integral to this process and practice of prayer that the two are irreversibly mixed. You know, Philippians Fovea six reads Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving. With that praise interweave and let your requests be made known to God.

Colossians 4:2, continue in prayer and watch in the same with Thanksgiving. Now how powerful this faith reality that we’ve been invited to enjoy and experience to actually take hold of the substance of a thing before we even see it. Hebrews 11 verse one describes it as now, faith, now, faith, now, faith, now, faith. Right now, faith is the substance of the things that you hope for. It is already the evidence of the things that you don’t see.

And I’m overwhelmed even to write these words and to speak these words. And my heart, like, really just fills up really with regret in some respects for all that I’ve not been thankful for. How much do you think the father will give? You know, he’ll give as much as we believe, for he doesn’t place any boundary on our asking in those verses. He says in everything, let your requests be known. Everything, every area, every part of life, every realm, everything that you can think of, everything that places a a challenge or a burden on your hard can be brought to the father, you know, and in the asking, we speed the requests to his hand on the wings of song, new sounds and old kind of billow from our soul filled with gratitude and just and our prayers become mixed with this incense that rises up and just kind of enraptured the heart of our father, I believe.

And as some of my favourite verses on prayer in the whole of scripture were written by Paul in one Corinthians 14. And he says, What is it? Then I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the understanding, praying and singing, praying and singing, asking and thanking, asking and thanking. How much can you thank God for that you already hold in your hand.

No retrospective gratitude is incredibly powerful, but how much more can we embrace as we thank El Shaddai, the God of more than enough for all that’s yet to come? All that were believing. For all that we envision, you know your prayers and songs lift you into a place where your past, present and future bleed into one encompassed in eternity. Your requests and Thanksgiving take hold of future realities. I love Isaiah 57, verse 15. It says for thus, say, the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity.

His name is Holy. I dwell in the high and holy place with him also. That is of a contrite and humble spirit to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. He inhabits eternity. God’s habitation doesn’t live by natural rules, not the rules that we’re accustomed to here on on the on the planet. Don’t apply in the realm that he lives and inhabits and fails. He steps outside of time and space and he invites us through prayer to do the same.
