Faith Comes

The only word rolling around my spirit this morning is very familiar:

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17

I think maybe someone needs to hear that again.

And again.

If living by faith is your longing, here’s the key.

If you want to walk with God, this is your ticket.

“Faith comes by hearing [and hearing by the Word of] God.”

God’s written Word is the tuner that connects you to a higher way of thinking and seeing. Knowledge of God’s Word aligns your heart with what He is speaking right now – to YOU!

The Bible is not a tannoy, indiscriminately blasting out dogma to a faceless mass.

It’s a letter.

A poem.

Personal and pertinent.

Eyewitness accounts that connect with the heart.

A personal station playing your song.

How finely tuned you want to become is entirely up to you.

Holy Spirit, You’ve got something you want to say today

God speaks.

That’s His nature.

Jesus is called the Word of God.

He was the Word with skin on, setting up his tent next to ours.

“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.” (John 1:14 MESSAGE)

Then He played the master stroke. No longer just your next-door neighbour, He moved right in and took up residence.

“…ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” (John 14:17 KJV)

From here He speaks.

He takes what He hears from the Master's mouth and hands it on to you. He is the purveyor of perfection, bringing God’s voice to the inner sanctuary of your heart so you no longer need to spend your days guessing.

You can if you insist…

Spend your days guessing, stressing, and caressing your cares.

You can stay distressed and arrested by anxious thoughts.

But God on the inside offers a different way to live…

Secure in His blessing.

Learning to lean and listen.

Following His lead.

Yes, God is speaking today, not just to you but in you.

Settle back, switch off the static, and incline your ear to hear.

Don’t second guess or brush off the still, small impressions that rise from your heart.

The more you practice the louder they become.

Selah.

Yes!

Can one press-up lead to six-pack abs?

Will one word flourish to a novel?

Does one step reach the destination?

yes,

and yes.

If you follow with the next and the next.

Small Steps Lead To Big Results

Micro commitments.

Atomic habits.

These are a few Zeitgeist terms that encapsulate an age-old truth.

It’s not the big leaps that make the difference long term. It’s the tiny consistent movements in one direction over time that build toward a breakthrough and leave a lasting legacy.

Here’s a 1-minute 10-second video that sums up the power of small actions (I never get tired of being reminded).

Seemingly small, unimpressive, inconsequential actions can start a chain reaction that leads to remarkable results down the line.

Don’t discount the actions you’ve taken toward your dreams just because they didn’t yield immediate results. Every move you make in the direction you believe the Lord is leading compounds and lends multiplied energy to the next.

What’s In My Heart?

The hidden man of the heart. (1 Peter 3:4)

This is the place to start.

The heart, the inner man, is the fount. From it flow the issues of life.

It’s from here that all your creativity, your energy, the boundaries and boundless possibilities of character and accomplishments flow.

No wonder the Scriptures urge:

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23 KJV)

You are a spirit, and your spirit is connected to God. That vital connection is your lifeline.

He is not distant.

In fact, He could not be closer.

“But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” (1 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV)

The creative Christian life is one lived in close fellowship with the Creator.

It is not one free of mistakes. Not a life devoid of challenges.

But it is a life of proximity.

Guard and protect your heart from the buffeting winds of the world that strive to convince you otherwise; the voices that say you have to be perfect, the whispers that you are alone.

God is present right now to take you over.

He is your victory.

Whatever “this” is for you…

You’ve got this!
