I have two passions.

Prayering and sharing.

I believe the root of every creative endeavour is the Creator Himself, the God of the Bible.

What you produce is the fruit: books, blogs, podcasts, messages, pictures, courses – innumerable expressions of life in every form and fashion.

Here’s some food for your table today:

“And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.” (2 Kings 19:30 KJV)

And

“And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:” (Isaiah 37:31 KJV)

I realise, of course, that these promises have direct national implications for our dear Jewish brothers and sisters. God has never forsaken His people, and His faithfulness to Israel is the plumbline of our confidence as wild branches grafted into the promises made to them! [See Romans 11:17-18]

Let us thank Him for that!

Back to roots and shoots.

The shoots are what’s seen, but their entire existence depends on the health of the roots.

The deeper the root the more healthy the fruit.

Dig deep into your relationship with God. Never neglect the primary place of prayer in your Christian experience.

Number one, prayer connects you to the Source.

Number two, prayer provides perspective so you understand the true nature of success.

Number three, prayer keeps your heart full so there’s always something to share with others.

Roots and shoots.

Selah.

Language is a powerful thing.

It can bring people together or leave them in the cold.

In my line as an author and an online marketer my world is peppered with ROI, front matter, back matter, CPC, KENP and KDP, pagereads and LTDs, lead magnets and landing pages, signups and series readthrough. To name just a few.

I’ve discovered that it’s easy to be so immersed in your own world that you end up drowning in assumptions.

Assuming that others will understand what you’re talking about.

When I speak of lead captures, author copies, ePubs and PDfs. Wax eloquent about PSDs, JPGs, and WP. For many, I’m speaking in tongues.

This is worth remembering…

People do not always understand even the most basic elements of your areas of expertise.

Like you, they begin at zero.

They don’t yet speak the language.

This is empowering.

Because here’s another assumption that’s all too easy to make. We assume that we have to be some stellar expert before we reach out a hand to help.

NOT the case!

The people who often need the most help, to whom you can be God’s answer, may well be the ones who have no idea where to even begin.

What’s Your World?

How can you reach out to someone wanting to step inside and learn the lingo?

What are the first words they need to hear and understand as they seek to become fluent? Remember, they don’t need your deepest secrets, just the next simple step.

For me, I teach first-time Christian authors to write and publish books.

I assume no prior knowledge.

We start with a blank slate.

And within 90 days they’ve found their Big Idea, they’ve flown through their first draft, formatted like a pro, mastered the set up process, and pushed the book to published!

Reach back to take the hand of the person you used to be

You too, can lead others to success in your areas of experience and expertise.

You just need to be one step ahead.
Don’t assume you don’t know enough.
Don’t assume you have to be big or famous.
No, no, no, just willing and generous.

Reach back to take the hand of the person you used to be.

Ultimately that is all we are doing. Remembering how hard it once seemed, how confusing the lingo sounded, and making it our mission to help someone else who’s standing in the shoes that we once wore.

If I waited until I was ready, I’d never have made a move.

Peter wasn’t ready to walk on the waves, but he did.

He had a choice…

Step out or stay in.

He stepped over the side and the rest, they say, is history.

“But he sank!” they protest.

Not before he strode a few strides on the tide, he didn’t.

Let’s be wave walkers.

Tide striders.

At times you’ll feel swallowed by the swell,
but you’ll always be saved from the waves by the Master
A wet-footed winner with a story to tell.

Why Should Anyone Listen To Me?

That’s an interesting question.

If I pondered it for too long, I may never share another word ever again.

In the caterwauling of today’s media-saturated world, it’s easy to believe that you’re whistling in a tempest. That your voice is swallowed in the noise.

So instead I choose to turn the question on its head.

Who am I listening to?

I don’t mean that in a broad sense, but a very narrow one.

What is God saying to me?

If He said it, I’ll do it.

Even if it seems no one else is listening.

I’ll step out on the water and do my utmost to stay firmly fixed on Jesus all the way to the shore.

He knows best.

He understands what needs to be built in my heart before He can bless the work of my hand.

Build the heart.

Bless the hand.

And often it’s in obedient doing that the deep work is accomplished. It takes courage to step out. The easiest thing in the world is to disqualify yourself. That’s why you need a word from Heaven to provide solid walking ground.

Incline your ear, hear and heed His instruction, and daily take faithful steps of obedience.

Like Abraham, you may not know exactly where those steps are leading, but you can be certain that the covenant-keeping God is ordering every single one of them.

From your belly (the depths of your being) will flow rivers of living water. (John 7:38)

So said Jesus.

Whatever the river touches will live. (Ezekiel 47:9)

So said Ezekiel.

The river of God enriches everything, causing all that surrounds it to flourish. The river is abundantly full of water with not one thought of scarcity (Psalm 65:9)

So said David.

These are the deep waters from which we drink! The flow from which we give to the world.

You are an able minister of the Spirit

“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV)

Such is the creative Christian life.

An overflowing act of generosity teeming with life, overspilling its banks to help and bless others.

Your words change people’s worlds when they come into contact with them.

You are a conduit of grace.

A giver of life.

A servant of God.

Serving His words and ways to hungry hearts.

Never back off. Don’t back down.

Jesus is Lord!
