At one time you were so minuscule you could not be seen with a naked eye. You may even feel just as insignificant today as you did at conception, hidden in the crowd and voiceless. You would not be alone.
It’s easy in the mass of humanity to feel like a nobody, especially with the curated stream of success stories and gorgeous selfies we gorge on. It can get to the point where you feel as powerless to make an impact as that fragile embryo swimming in its mother’s juices.
But God can see.
He does not need a microscope to notice you.
He does not need a hearing aid to discern your voice.
He saw you when you were knitted in your momma’s womb.
“For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalms 139:13 AMPLIFIED
“My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths” Psalms 139:15 AMPLIFIED
You are significant.
From the moment of conception to the day of your demise God is passionately interested in you, and all that you have to offer the world
It is easy to fall prey to the powers of the terrible twins, the crushers of creativity, and dampers of dreams…
Procrastination and Perfectionism.
Procrastination says, “tomorrow”, and perfectionism takes it a step further and says, “never”. Taken together they have stolen a thousand dreams and prevented countless initiatives.
When Jesus said, “be ye perfect even as you father in Heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48) He was not suggesting that you take a lifetime polishing your halo before you step out and help someone. Thankfully, Jesus took care of the perfect piece of the pie, liberating you to step out boldly in all your weird and unpolished ways and learn, grow and improve as you go.
Don’t need 3 degrees and a PHD before you put a pen to paper.
Don’t need to know everything before you do something.
Take a step today and throw caution to the wind. Start where you are at and make a move.

Well, hi, everyone. Today, I want to talk about turning your hopes into habits, it’s something that I’ve spoken about before, but I just think it’s so important. You know, sometimes it’s really easy to feel very insignificant in this kind of ocean of. And really, the big thing is that we live in this bubble of curated content, these feeds of information and images and videos. And and it really is curated. It’s like the highlight reel of everyone’s life or at some dude trying to sell us something.
00:00:50.510]
And honestly, in the midst of all that, because it is the highlight reel, very easy to feel as though what you have to bring to the table and the creativity that the Holy Ghost is placed within you is somewhat less than not quite up to par, not worthy of people’s attention or people’s. Engagement, but the truth is, you’ve got something to bring to the world that is unique and a one time you were completely invisible, just just one little sperm, one little egg, and there you were.
00:01:33.640]
And, you know, even a microscope found it would have found it difficult to see you. But the scriptures tell us that God knew you were right there in the womb. He knit you together in the womb. He saw you. He knew you. He planted within you the very plans, the purposes and the blueprint that he had set in place for you to walk in freedom and for you to walk in your destiny. And I just want to encourage you, sometimes we can feel like we’re just that silent voice shouting out into the void.
00:02:21.910]
Yeah, we can feel just as insignificant as that hidden embryo in the dark recesses of our mother’s womb, but in the same way that God rejoiced to see you conceived and and God was incredibly, intimately, actively interested in your formation in the hidden place. He is interested. He is engaged. He is active in the formation of you as a person and of your gifts and of the anointing and the the callings and the ministry that he has for your life.
00:03:07.510]
And by ministry, I don’t mean standing on a stage somewhere in a church or singing a song or playing a guitar. Now, it may be any one or all of those things, but, you know, each of us has a ministry to bring to the world. Each of us has value and worth to bring to the table, to share with other people. And sometimes it really does take boldness and it takes a lot of courage to step out, even just to accept that as a truth and a reality.
00:03:38.740]
But this is an incredible verse where it’s not incredible. It’s true. There’s a verse in the scriptures in Zechariah when people were scoffing, when people were looking down on Zera Bible and the others who were looking to rebuild the temple. But God said, look, do not despise the day of small beginnings because the Lord rejoices to see it. And sometimes those first steps that we take, sometimes those kind of faltering moves towards actually putting action to what we believe God has placed in our heart can feel so incredibly insignificant.
00:04:24.860]
You know, in all honesty, it can feel a bit dumb, a bit silly, like it’s a waste of time. Why should I even try? But it’s those small moves, seemingly insignificant moves that really make way for the big changes that can happen in your life. There are two I call them the terrible twins I have. There are two things that prevent us making those moves sometimes. And, well, there are probably more if we’re honest.
00:05:00.370]
There’s probably a whole army out there like standing, like just trying to mock us. Yeah, like the Goliath syndrome. But I’m telling you, small things can make big changes. And the two that I’m speaking of, maybe the Goliath’s brothers are procrastination and perfectionism. Procrastination says I’ll do it tomorrow. Perfectionism says it will never be good enough. Procrastination says tomorrow. Perfectionism says never. Yeah, it’s never going to be good enough. But just let me encourage you.
00:05:39.400]
You do not need three degrees, OK? I should burst into song. You do not need three degrees and a PhD, put pen to paper and begin to to blog or begin to write a book or form a poem or or share your ideas with the world. You do not need that, OK? You don’t need to have kind of perfected every single tune and every single note on whatever instrument you play before you actually sing a song that others can hear and listen to.
00:06:17.210]
You don’t have to do that. You’ve got to start where you are. Make moves where you are, and in doing so, you move toward what you want to become. It’s those it’s turning those hopes, those things that we know God has planted in our heart into habits. That makes the biggest difference, because in doing so, we actually move from a place of kind of accepting and acknowledging that, oh, yes, I believe God has called me to this to actually add substance to that hope, this unseen hope to add substance to that hope and move towards it.
00:06:59.480]
Faith will always act that there’s that great scripture in Hebrews now. Faith is now. Faith is not tomorrow, not next week, not next year, not in a decade’s time, not maybe when I’m 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, or maybe once I’ve gone on to eternity, then I might write my book, build my blog, create my course. Look, look, you do not need to know everything before you teach or do something.
00:07:36.500]
Doing something is so much better. Just taking what many call imperfect action as when Jesus said would be perfect, even as your father in heaven imperfect. He wasn’t suggesting that you spend the rest of your life shining your halo, OK, before you’re in a place to actually begin to benefit your fellow human beings by actually stepping out and saying, I’ve got something to bring here, I’ve got something to offer people, I’ve got something to put on the table that can help other people that can grow other people that can encourage and lift other people and give them permission to step out and do something, do something awesome, do something great by awesome and great.
00:08:30.710]
You could have you got a funnel that right back down to like what action can I take today? What small, insignificant decisions can I make today that if I do them on a consistent basis will lead me towards that big change, that identity forming reality that I long and want to move towards? So, Jesus really did take care of the perfection thing. You know, he’s got that one cornered. It’s it’s like he’s got the crown.
00:09:06.680]
He’s on the throne. He is the perfect one. And thankfully, he said, look, I’ve got all of this perfection. In fact, I’ve got more perfection than I know what to do with. Let me just give you some let me impart to you and add to your account all of the perfection that you will need in order to step out and act. And it’s like we’ve got this we’ve got this permission to step out and act with all of our like, warts and all.
00:09:43.520]
We’ve got this permission to step out in all our fumbling humanity. And in doing so, he will make up the difference. When you step out in faith, Jesus is real happy and very great to get involved in what you are doing. He wants to do so. You know, if you if it’s you’ve really got to turn that hope into a habit. And I’m a writer, that’s really where I feel most at home, to be honest.
00:10:21.740]
Certainly. Certainly more at home. Like in like just just typing away or or dictating away than standing in front of a camera. You can probably tell, but, you know, I’m a writer, I am a writer, but I’m also becoming a writer. And, you know, it’s it’s that there’s there’s this odd way that the whole deal works is that in order to become what you believe you’re called to be, you’ve actually got to do it before you believe you are that thing.
00:10:54.830]
You’ve got to make your way towards it with small, daily actions. For me, it means I write every day. Now, it doesn’t mean I write a big tome. It doesn’t mean I have to go out and create worlds. It doesn’t mean I have to develop the next great bestseller or anything of that kind. What it means is I have to write. Some words, you know, it’s hope is is kind of just those unseen, unrealised realities of God’s promise residing in our heart, but faith puts feet or in my case, puts fingers.
00:11:33.310]
Yeah. To that hope and says, I’m going to take this hope. I’m going to take this promise. I’m going to take this reality that I believe in. I’m going to take this idea that I can actually make a difference and I’m going to do something with it, even if I’m doing it hidden in the walls of this room of becoming even if I feel as insignificant or as hidden as that embryo in the womb, I’m going to begin to let this inner man, this inner woman, express themselves outwardly, and I’m going to let this body be the instrument that is used for that.
00:12:19.330]
For me, it means writing every day. You know, if you’re a painter, crack out those paint brushes and get some colour on the canvas. If you’re a songwriter, a singer, create something every day, every single day, every single day. That really, I think is the key, you know, little by little, song by song, line by line, life by life. That is how change occurs. That’s how you take an embryonic idea and turn it into something big, hairy and audacious.
00:13:01.840]
Everything begins with an idea, but an idea really takes form and becomes something more than just a wistful dream when we when we give energy to it, when we give attention to it and we we say in our heart, I’m going to take action here. And instead of allowing ourselves to be crippled by the idea that we have to have everything perfectly in place before we step out, we just say, man, I’m going to take what I’ve got and I’m going to put it on the table and I’m going to put it to use today to encourage someone else, to help someone else, to just express what’s in my heart.
00:13:51.760]
And to a degree, we leave the results and the outcome. To the Holy Ghost, you know, one sows another waters, but God gives the increase, and it doesn’t mean that God won’t give us wisdom to know how to turn our ideas into results as you go, God will give you the wisdom to know what to do next. As you go, God will engage you with the people that you need to meet with as you go. God will connect you with the right ideas, the right people, the right places, the finances, whatever, whatever it is.
00:14:32.960]
But you have to be moving. You have to be going you have to step out on that commission, that commandment to actually make disciples as you go. And like by making disciples, I don’t mean sitting someone down in a small group and just teaching them a few kind of choice Bible verses. We make disciples wherever we are. One of the things that I do and one of the things that that I feel very much called to, you know, and again, this is this is the idea of like it doesn’t have to be everything and everyone, but it can be something and someone and I love to work with creative Christians.
00:15:18.590]
I love to work with passionate, entrepreneurial, idea oriented Christians who want to make a difference in the world. I love to help them to to kind of realise their ideas, discover their awesome, crystallise that into products, into publications, into platforms, and and then begin to share that with the world, you know, and by God’s grace, if God gives us opportunities to then monetise that, we can actually make a living doing what we love.
00:15:53.530]
I mean, how awesome is that? Like, your your work and your worth are integrated so fully that actually you become the business you you are you step into the business of being yourself. And you step into that comfortable place of simply sharing your value with others and allowing the grace of God and the rest of God to carry you into the next stage and the next season. So I just want to bless I just want to let me just pray.
00:16:38.840]
And that’s always a good that’s always a good way to kind of wrap up, because I’m not I was never really I’ve never been even in all my years of preaching. I’ve never been good at that starting bit, you know, and I’ve never really been good at the wrapping up. But, I just kind of start and then carry on until. But, Father, I just thank you today in the name of Jesus for your Amazing Grace.
00:17:04.140]
I love that you are magnificent in every way that father you have offered us the perfection that your son paid for that law. We don’t have to be perfect. And that father you’ve called us now faith, now faith. You’ve given us now faith, faith to step out today and do something that carries us in the direction that you want to take us and carries us into the plans and the purposes that you have prepared and preordained that we would walk in.
